Short answer
In simple terms, Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination, and should have their own state, in their ancestral homeland – Israel, just as the French have France or the Chinese have China.
This is the only real definition of the term and everything else pro-Palestinians try to associate with it is either out of malicious intent or pure ignorance.
Long answer
In essence, the only real definition of Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination and should have their own state, in their ancestral homeland – Israel, just as the French have France or the Chinese have China.
At the root of this belief (Zionism) is a Jewish nationalist movement that advocates for the establishment and support of a Jewish homeland, in the ancient region of Israel
Zionism centers on the core ideas that Jews constitute a nation, not merely a religious or ethnic community; that the creation of a Jewish state is necessary to protect Jews from anti-Semitism and persecution, and that the Land of Israel (Eretz Israel) is the historical and spiritual homeland of the Jewish people.
Despite what many pro-Palestinians say about it – Zionism was not born out of a hatred for Arab populations. The fact that approximately two million Arab citizens live in Israel today demonstrates that Zionism does not preclude Arab presence or citizenship within its borders.
