Candace Owens didn’t suddenly “become” antisemitic. Her embrace of far-right antisemitic rhetoric had been growing for years, slowly developing into a coherent toxic worldview. Her slide turned into freefall after October 7, 2023. When Hamas massacred more than 1,200 Israelis — raping, torturing, kidnapping children, and burning families alive — Owens responded by accusing Israel of “collective punishment” and insisting Western media was hiding nonexistent “Israeli crimes.”
Since then, she has acted as an unrestrained, unapologetic antisemite, willfully blind to documented reality. She circulates unverified clips and partisan talking points as “evidence,” while ignoring Hamas’s execution of civilians, its tunnel networks under hospitals and schools, its systematic theft of aid, and its use of children as shields. She dismisses Israel’s evacuation warnings, humanitarian corridors, and unprecedented coordination with aid groups. Her entire output is built around finding new ways to demonize Israel.
What makes this dangerous is her reach. Owens has millions of followers who view her as an authority in a landscape they believe is full of “fake news.” For many, she is their only exposure to the conflict.
Israel has faced far worse enemies than online influencers. But in the algorithm era, lies can outrun rockets — especially inside far-right and far-left echo chambers. Owens figured that out and monetized it, turning herself into a megaphone for Hamas propaganda and a virulent source of disinformation. It’s a win-win for her and for Hamas, and a loss for anyone who cares about truth, reality, or basic sanity.
