Hamas reportedly utilizes various tactics to turn Palestinian civilians into human shields. This includes hiding their leaders and soldiers in the Gaza “metro”, an underground tunnel system, and leaving the civilians above ground during military actions. They also impede the evacuation of civilians from conflict zones. Essentially, Hamas seems to employ strategies that increase civilian casualties to advance their global narrative, even reportedly threatening civilians who attempt to seek safety elsewhere. This blatant disregard for civilian life underlines the tragic reality faced by the residents of Gaza under Hamas’s rule.
