Short answer
Despite its name, Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) is an organization that misrepresents Jewish values and actually supports anti-Israel activism rather than genuinely advocating for Jewish interests or promoting peace.
It’s basically exploiting its Jewish identity to shield anti-Israel movements from accusations of antisemitism. First and foremost they dismiss Jewish history as a “false Zionist narrative” and claim Holocaust remembrance is part of an Israeli conspiracy. JVP spreads antisemitic tropes, including comparing Zionists to Nazis, justifying violence against Israelis, and supporting the BDS movement against Israel.
They actively partner with groups known for their extreme anti-Israel stances. For example with Samidoun an organization sanctioned by the U.S. and Canada for funding terrorism
Long answer
“Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) is deceptive organization for several reasons:
1 – misrepresents Jewish values. While claiming to speak for Jewish beliefs, their actions and statements often contradict traditional Jewish tenets and historical perspectives. For instance, they dismiss 4,000 years of Jewish history as a “false Zionist narrative” and claim that Holocaust remembrance is part of an Israeli conspiracy.
2 – JVP spreads antisemitic rhetoric. This includes comparing Zionists to Nazis, accusing Zionists of being terrorists, circulating antisemitic imagery (such as depictions of Israelis drinking Palestinian blood), and exploiting Jewish rituals and holidays for anti-Zionist purposes. This also includes justifying violence against Israelis and supporting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel, as well as undertaking actions to disrupt Jewish life on college Campuses.
3 – JVP is masquerading as a mainstream Jewish organization when its true purpose is to create an anti-Israel “wedge within the American Jewish community.” JVP has significantly contributed to the rise of anti-Zionism and anti-Israel sentiment on college campuses and within progressive political circles.
4 – JVP actively partners with groups known for their extreme anti-Israel stances and terror support. For example, JVP has collaborated with Samidoun, an organization sanctioned by the U.S. and Canada for funding terrorism. They also support the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a designated terrorist organization. They receive funding from various foundations, including the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the Lannan Foundation, which advocate for causes like the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel. In 2022, JVP reported $3.3 million in revenue.
In summary, JVP exploits its Jewish identity to shield anti-Israel movements from accusations of antisemitism.
These actions clearly present JVP not as a genuine advocate for Jewish interests or a promoter of peace, but rather as a front for anti-Israel activism.”
